Big fizzy head that lasts for 10 seconds.

Big fizzy head that lasts for 10 seconds. A ghostly pale body that still haunts me in my nightmares.

It’s never a good sign when the ABV and the IBU of a beer are comparable. And it’s never a good sign when the word “Berliner Weisse” is printed on the label. So, on we go with a totally unbiased review of a another beer of my least favourite beer style!

This is a fizzy looking brew has a very, very pale golden colour, with a large, white head that… oh, it’s gone.

The aroma is quite faint, and in addition to the mandatory crisp lemony notes, there is also an overly sweet and slightly unfresh background of overripe citrus.

There are of course not much flavour in this brew, and strangely enough there isn’t much acidity either, despite the fact that the brewer added lemon juice. The slightly exciting funky hints of sourness that was present in the First We Take Manhattan is not present in this water-meets-fermented-lemon drink. The most exciting thing about this one is the trace of buttery popcorn(!).

The mouthfeel is of course watery, but it’s refreshing in soft drink way.

Conclusion: please ban this beer style.

  1. Not surprised. I wasn’t too happy with the sour levels on this one either, so I added lemon juice to sour it up more than adding flavor. Still thought it was way more drinkable and refreshing than you do. Oh well, such are the ways of the palate (or popes rating black metal). 😉
